Abstract

This paper conducts a bibliographic review that characterizes the consumption of pornography in adolescence, its consequences and the tools proposed in the literature, presenting a critical compilation of the data obtained from the articles found that study this phenomenon. The bibliographic review is carried out by searching scientific literature sites such as Dialnet and Scopus with the keywords: “Pornography” AND “adolescent” OR “adolescents” OR “adolescence”. The bibliographic references found are filtered based on their relevance to the subject of study and compiled and summarized in a table to facilitate their study. Regarding the consumption of pornography, according to what was found in this review, it has increased significantly with the arrival of the Internet, especially affecting the adolescent population, with ages of pornography consumption between 10 and 13 years. The pornography consumed, hypersexualized and loaded with violent images, aims to cause negative consequences in this at-risk population. As a counterpoint, there is a tool to avoid and minimize the effects of pornography: sexual education. After presenting an overview of sexual education in Spain, a series of proposals are made to improve its effectiveness, based on the solutions proposed in other educational systems and other proposals, and supporting the proposals made in Organic Law 10/2022, of September 6, on the comprehensive guarantee of sexual freedom, some sexual education class aimed at the adolescent population is pitched.
