Lectura antropológica del uso de adornos

Abstract

This paper tries to defend the idea that ornaments are a language in society. Communication and identity are two aspects, always present in personal ornaments, that help to organize the ti es of social relations, and allow the recognition and orientation of individuals and groups. That's to say, ornaments contribute to establish and legitimate social categories, because the decorated body gives a set of classifiable possibilities that can be simbolically used.
