Abstract

During 19th and 20th centuries, a debate surges in Spain upon the controversial subject of religious freedom, as a right to be recognized to everybody. Spanish Evangelical Alliance (AEE) beca me one of the protagonists in the prolonged proccess of conquering this right. AEE is the most ancient -though scarcely known- interdenominational association of contemporary Spanish Protestantismo Founded in 1877, its two main objectives all through this period have been: coordinating the defense of religious freedom of Protestants in Spain, and promoving symbolic unity -as a big family- among these religious dissidents throughout the country and outside of Spain, by developing specific activities of sociability.
