Memoria e historia en la obra de Jorge Semprún

Abstract

The writer Jorge Semprún took part as an outstanding figure in some of the most important events in the Spanish and European Comtemporary History. We can point out his deportation to the Nazi concentration camp in Buchenwald and his membership and defection from the Spanish Comunist Party. These experiences are shown in several autobiographical books, where the author’s memory offers details and reflexions which are essential to understand the history of the 20th century. Memory and History go together in Jorge Semprún’s literary production.
