Abstract

In this historical essay one of the most particular dimensions of Hugo Chávez Frías political discourse is shown, like the one linked closely to the emergency of a hero myth in the construction of the idea of nation. After reviewing the Venezuelan political conflict scenarios, that from the seventies which is expressed in the 1989 Caracas rebellion and the 1992 army movement, Chávez political rise is built up,but from the analysis of a discourse that moves the return of a hero in a crisis moment and national confusion. This circumstance allows to associate the features of a change political moment, which has as an objective, of a national refoundation through an institutional mechanism of 1999 Constituent National Assembly, where the echo of an emancipator heroic esploit of our XIX century is present in the universe of images, symbols and messages that stages the Bolivarian discourse and the great mass media discourse of the President of the Republic at present, Lieutenant Colonel Hugo Chávez Frías. Further on a formal study of a linguistic or politological type, it is a historical research that takes into account the discourse phenomena as an analysis object, rebuilt on time and ideological fundamentals and the possible effects in the construction – deconstruction of Venezuelan political imaginary from the early XXI century.
