La hacienda cubana entre la colonia y la república

Abstract

Along the U.S. military government of Cuba (1899-1902) and during the initial two years of the first cuban administration of the island (1902-1904) important steps were taken to eliminate the bulky colonial debt and modernize the public finances. Nevertheless, these changes created a very favourable situation for the U.S investments in key activities of the national economy, and in a very short time give final form to the external duty of the Cuban Republic.
