Abstract

The small towns of the central and oriental Pyrenees are on the transborder space that joins Gascony and Languedoc to Catalonia and Aragon. Places of important fairs, the merchants were numerous and active. Moreover they received merchants, boilermakers and peddlers of the Massif Central and of the Alps. From the Pyrenean towns, we can think about a very important aspect of the economy, that is the trade and the mercantile mobilities. This article is interested in the role of the small towns of the mountain and their insertion in the commercial nets that they are towards the plain or the other side of the political border, since the transborder relations played a very important role in the local and regional economical life
