Abstract

The railroad Zamora-Ourense-A Coruña was begun in a historic moment that will radically change the life of the cities and villages spanning. These changes were specially intense from the social perspective as consequence of the leaders’ action and working unions that helped to spread new ideas and values in local communities in which they acted. In this article there is analyzed the awakening of the worker associations concerning the construction of the railroad, the strategies of capture and of mobilization developed by the leaders and the resistance to the coup d’état of July, 1936. Finally, there is analyzed in a synthetic way the repression implemented against the workers of the railroad
