Abstract
This article analyses how the monastery of La Encarnación, in Madrid, was provided with one Viagem in the Portuguese overseas domains in the first half of the 17th century. It implied the creation of an international network of protectors and mediators around the Iberian global empires. In order to explain this process the article also studies the juridical status of the monastery in order to overcome the citizenship requirements to be allowed to trade in the Portuguese Asia.
