After circular territory. Everyday landscapes of the galician periphery

Abstract

The aim this work proposes is to understand the region located between the valley of the Miño river and the depression of A Limia, where the contrasted relief produces irregular topographies of changing forms, difficulting mental clear images or immediate comprehensive readings. Specifically, this thesis investigates the circular geometry underlying the parcel, contextual and functional justification of smallholder farm fragmentation, the need to incorporate perceptual instruments to supplement classifications of landscapes, and the symbols that the community custody to signify their territory
