Venezuela, at the end of the 1940s, became a host country for massive immigration due to the profound economic transformation it was experiencing. This was driven by the oil boom and by the open-door immigration policy of the government of the dictator Pérez Jiménez between 1952 and 1958. However, once the dictatorship fell, a period began in which the new authorities, with little success as we will see throughout this study, tried to control the entry of foreigners into the country.
