Abstract

This article analyzes the relevance given to the issues related to Cuba in the journal Unión Iberoamericana between 1898 and 1926. To achieve these purposes, it has been used the allusions made to Cuba in the publication. This information has been supplemented with other bibliographical sources. After comparing the data collected, it is possible to affirm that the Ibero-American Union addressed the issues related to the Island with assiduity, giving priority to issues related to the identity between the peninsula and America, emigration and trade. Furthermore, there is a constant criticism of the role of privileged partner that the United States played in its relations with the Greater Antilles. However, the journal kept a low profile on issues of a political nature.
