Abstract

Within the framework of the “Galtfish” project, whose main objective is to search for the origins of the Galician canning industry, an archaeological intervention was carried out in 2022 at a site situated at the southern end of Areal dos Bois, on the island of Sálvora. This intervention represents the first archaeological excavation carried out on the island of Sálvora with the aim of advancing our knowledge of ancient human occupation on the island. This article discusses the results of the excavation and analyses the archaeological materials recovered. The results reveal a Roman occupation of a probable industrial nature and a chronology around the 1st century AD.
