The causes of Galician emigration to Venezuela as told by its protagonists

Abstract

In the 1950s, Galicians emigrated to Venezuela on a massive scale, thus displacing the countries that had been receiving emigration until then -Argentina, Cuba, Uruguay and Brazil-. In this paper we will try to find out, through the testimonies of some of its protagonists, what were the causes of this emigration and why the choice of Venezuela.
