Geodemography of the providence of Pontevedra (1970-2020)

Abstract

In the course of the last half century, the province of Pontevedra has undergone numerous changes in its dynamism and in its demographic structure, which have caused a high degree of aging of its population. These modifications have also been reflected in the territorial distribution of its inhabitants, with the contrast between the coastal areas, which show demographic growth and are highly urbanized, and the interior of the province, especially the more mountainous areas, which are more ruralized and show significant population losses.
