The creation of Nations in Latin America responds to long-term processes that did not come to fruition until many years after Independence. We can affirm that in Latin American countries the State came first and the Nation came much later. In the Argentina case, the decade of the 1880s was decisive so that what, until then, was a confederation of poorly united provinces ended up leading to the development and empowerment of a unitary state and a consciousness of a common identity that created a social reality different from the one that had been in force until then.
