¿Un castellum tardoantigo nas beiras do Miño? Estudio preliminar dos materiais tardorromanos do castro de Sta. Lucía (Freás-Astariz, Castrelo de Miño, Ourense)

Abstract

We proceed to a brief presentation of the castro (hillfort) of Sta. Lucía de Astariz (Castrelo de Miño, Ourense, Spain), indicating the archaeological interventions carried out and making a quick description of the main archaeological results obtained in each digged sector. This presentation will serve as a general framework for the chronotypological study of the late Roman finds recovered in the hillfort, which is the main objective of this paper, highlighting the pottery finds (LRC, ARSW, LHS, LG from Lugo), glass and, especially, metallic finds (late Roman military harness). Based on this study, we will try to define and characterize the late Roman castellum of Sta. Lucía in the context of the new settlements and power centers of the Suevian-Visigothic kingdom of Gallaecia.
