Resumen

Ian Gibson takes for granted that Lorca read Shakespeare’s plays. In Lorca’s theatre we can find allusions to shakespearean plays and characters, but that influence goes further because they fight for the change of theatre (they deal with themes taboo till the moment, such as defense of minorities races —Othello— or of homosexuals —El Público—). Metatheatrical resources are also near in both authors: they stage themes such as theatrical acting (Othello and El Público or Comedia sin título). Some themes are common: revenge, love, hate, parents’repression, honor, metatheatrical reflection, death and fight to change
