In this paper, I analyse how children acquire and use word formation devices to indicate occupation in Spanish from a experimental task, working with a sample of 43 intellectually disabled children. Children disabilities are different levels and come from different ethiologies. From this study we suggest possible hypotheses to explain brain processes for acquisition word formation
