Abstract

Translation, when it is literary translation, is an unusually complex process. For this reason the art of literary translation is often excluded from theoretical translation models. It is viewed as a special case in the realm of translation because it deals with questions that are markedly interdisciplinary and that go far beyond the limits of normal translation. In this paper we will discuss the literary text as a complex construct and we will analyze it from different aspects. At the same time we will try to position dramatic translation with respect to literary translation in view of the current state of research in this area.
