La viva estampa de la aventura
Keywords:
adventure novel, illustration, cinema, comic books, history, readingAbstract
Since its first appearance as a literary genre, adventure novels have been published carrying illustrations of a varying degree of beauty, but always static. This stillness, which gives more importance to the textual communication than
to the visual message, is radically altered after the irruption of the cinema and comic books which had a huge following amongst potential readers who loved action stories. The evolution and characteristics of these three varieties of visual
communication —illustration, comic books and cinema— are the object of this study, which is kept however, within the boundaries of adventure stories.
