Abstract

In this essay I will talk about de book Das Leben ist eine Karawanserei, wchich could be considered a "bicultural work", because her author came from an Arabic-Turquish-German culture, and indeed she mixes up literature and culture in this book. The writer Emine Segvi Ózdamar does not belong to the literature of her original country (Turkey) and neither of Germany, where she lives. That is why her work is independent and creates a bridge berween both literatures. Her novel is an example of how young people understand a minority culture in a natural way within a communicative exchange. They learn this work how other nationalities live and that gives them the possibility of opening their minds to a plural society and recognizing the significance of tolerance.
Emine Segvi Ozdamar contributes with her work Das Leben ist eine Karawanserei to show young people how important is to know other cultures to achieve an understanding in this case between the Turkish and the German. $0 young people could discover that they are not so different as far as their familiar links and the childhood are concerned.
