Abstract

Ever since Caperucita en Manhattan was published in 1990 ithas been reedited non-stop. It's grandness lies on the possibility of producing a new fascination in it's readers whom are able to compenetrate in a tale which has been told countless times, in a city that has been scenery of thousands of stories. Even though this represents a great challenge, Martín Gaite takes a risk and is able to retell the story and propose a renovation in children's and youtk's literature. In the following research paper 1 have analized the specific way in which this important author uses intertextuality as a tool for subversion. In other words, 1 have followed up closely the way Martín Gaite uses our referents on fairy tales and traditional characters in order to break down models and structures. The purpose of the rupture in the novel is not imposing new models but letting the text lie in a zone of undefinition. Little Red Riding Hood voyage throughout Manhattan does not imply a return home, to the established; from it's intertextual weaving with another classic: Alice in Wonderland come key elements which are transformed in the novel and which are object of study in this investigation.
