Abstract

Korea children's literature has been written based on “encouraging good and punishing evil which intends for good based on traditional thought and Christianity. After Korean peninsular is divided two, South Korea has written freely based on liberal democracy and capitalism. However, there has been closed children's literatures to maintain Communism and Kim Il Sung Administration in North Korea. Of course, some type of North Koreas children's literature is similar to South Koreas. These days many children's literature works are written for interests and amusement of children by reflecting various cultures and popular cultures flowing from overseas instead of instructive style. Especially, after Harry Porter, fantasy writings have drawn attention. Number of works handling adoption and defected fam¡ly, mixed-bloods due to international marriage, the disabled and underprivileged of society, environment protection and ecological literature are increasing. Since this period is globalization era where various foreign civilizations through mass media upon “we are the one,” thoughts and trend of writers of children's literature are in line with the trend of world. The more developed and different literature works will appear in Korea 10 or 20 years after.
