Children's literature in translation has been given special prominence in the editorial market. This paper analyses the links between children's literature in translation and the best-seller 7/he Boy in the Striped Pyjamas (2006) by the Irish writer John Boyne. More than 3.5 million of copies have been sold. “The reception of the novel and the role of its translation into Spanish in the target polysystem enables us to examine its success. Actually, its reception has been facilitated by the dual reader and its belonging to the children literature genre. In addition, Nazism is a controversial subject; the book is written in a plain style; it is easy to read; and the reader feels attracted by the boy's innocent viewpoint.
