Children's literature in Argentina: enunciation of the disappeared
Keywords:
Children and Young People's Literature, dictatorship, memory, childhoodAbstract
The purpose of this article is to critically examine how the recent history of Argentina's dictatorship enters Children and Young People's Literature (LIJ) narrative during the post-dictatorship period. This interest arises from the lack of critical work around the subject. The Estate binds schools (mediationintervention body institution par excellence) to deal with, develop curriculum programmes and teach about what happened during the dictatorship period and the school is most efficient entity promoting Children and Young People's Literature (or LI). From a political, ideological and educational point of view, this provides sufficient grounds to examine such a particularly significant aspect of literature. While renowned writers and editors get their hands to work, academics have started to go into the libraries looking for literature dealing with the subject matter (of dictatorship) but critics have not really treated the issue and that is what the present work intends/attempts to do: to open discussion (create debate). An a appealing proposal, yet never simple and which portrays a way to study these days' children and youth culture.
