The aedsthetic and narrative function of the double page in the picture book

The picture book, although it is a derivative work ¡llustrated books and envolved, has become a visual art that acquires related characteristics expressiveness of images to enhance, supplement or clarify the written literature. The use of double page has increased considerably in the last decade, making it necessary to reflect on their initial possibilities, similar to those performed by different groups specializing in children's literature on the picture book. This article describes and updated studies on the role of the double page, beyond a simple format that had ¡ts main source. The support material consists of some ¡lustrations of the portfolio of the author and citation of albums released by other illustrators, are examples of the role of participation in the aloum image ¡llustrated in a subliminal language that enables dynamic creativity of the reader.
