The child drawn in verse: approaches to new children's poetry in spanish language
Keywords:
poetry for children, literary field, Spanish American children's literature, literary awardsAbstract
In recent years, the creation of important awards for children's poetry in the Spanish America region has contributed to the progressive construction of a new corpus of "poetry written by authors” with children being the intended reader. This article analyzes the formal and thematic tendencies observed in eleven titles that have received these awards, in order to establish a general overview for outlining the main characteristics of this poetic corpus. In order to do this, different categories of analysis were established regarding the formal aspects, the poetic enunciation and the dialogue with the literary field. The outcomes demonstrate the relationship that these works maintain not only with traditional poetry with folkloric roots but also with the experimentation and exploration of contemporary children's literature.
