Abstract

In this article, we try to give account of the Portuguese concrete poetry for children and young people, aware that the dialogue between the visual configuration and the content is typical of poetics that have this preferred recipient. In this itinerary we detected two main axes: the lettrism, which consists of the use of the letters in ¡ts plastic dimension, considering them not as linguistic signs, but ¡ts shape, its design, its connotative figuration; and the concreteness, in which the use of the word ¡is released from the sentence and, free of charge, starts to suggest new meanings and poetic dimensions. Thus, in this context, we present and examine, from a critical perspective, some poetic works of the major growers of this type of poetry, such as Mário Castrim, Teresa Guedes, Joáo Pedro Mésseder and Francisco Duarte Mangas, and dot a few notes about the value of their presence and use in schools.
