Keywords:

The present paper analyses the relationship between translation and stereotypes in children's literature, in particular in the Spanish film Donkey Xote (2007) and its dubbing into Italian. lt aims to ¡llustrate how the introduction of certain stereotypes can influence the vision of the target text's receiver regarding the social and cultural system of the source culture. By analyzing the stereotypes introduced into the Italian dubbing, we will try to demonstrate the need to eliminate the stereotypical vision of reality in favour of a wider intercultural vision, above all because children are not able to understand certain ¡ronic allusions that only an adult audience can appreciate.
