Abstract

The general history of the childhood is examined in the contemporary history of Galicia, attending especially to the role of the
child in the society. It was a very common enfajar to the children, which was retarding his motive development. In the rural way, the children were working
since they had forces to do it, since the familiar rural company needed the cooperation of all his members: “The work of the child is small, but the one
who loses it is mad”, was in the habit of saying. From very small, so, already they were earning the bread that they were eating. The children were growing
in those days in a considerably violent atmosphere: they were very numerous those who were receiving mistreatment in the house, in the school and in the
street. The relation between parents and children has transformed in a very significant way. Before the children neither were playing any role, and nor had
right to the privacy. There were many children and this was not helping that his estimation was very high. Nowadays there are very few children and they
are in the habit of being overprotected. For the rest, the girls were in the habit of being discriminated.
