Gobernanza e competitividade urbana nas cidades medias españolas. Unha visión crítica.

Abstract

In late 1980 the international organizations adopted the term “governance” to define the new structures of cooperation for development in which the public sector harmoniza their agreements with the private sector and the so called Third sector. The concept was very successful and served to name different structures of government in wich private companies, NGOs and citizens in general participated actively in the definition of public policies. Since then, the strategic planning and urban governance have teamed up to promote major projects of urban transformation to improve the competitiveness of these cities and to create a new urban image, favoring, by the way, the real estate development.
