Abstract

This work deals with the research about the Galician Palaeolithic since its inception, with Villa-Amil y Castro, passing through emblematic excavations as those of Gándaras de Budiño or recent ones such as Cova Eirós. We have identified six phases whose character is very much linked to the historical context of each one of them. After analysing the number of publications related to this period and the location of the archaeological sites, we have verified that both, the scientific works and the number of known sites, experienced an exponential growth from the 90s of the last century. This momentum continues at present due to the current projects related to the research of this prehistoric period.
