Human pressure and extreme climatic events are the main risk and degradation factors that affect the immovable cultural heritage. This erosion is especially notable in the coast areas, due to the changes in the tides, and in areas with a high incidence of tourism. The National Park Maritime-Terrestrial of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia (PNMTIAG) is a good example of both cases. It preserves an important historical heritage, in a landscape catalogued as natural reserve of the biosphere. Project SENTINELA, funded by the Ministry of Ecologic Transition and Demographic Challenge (2023-2025) has the aim of monitoring and registry those degradation agents, as well as their impact on the cultural heritage of the islands. To achieve this goal, we designed a series of registry protocols, adapted to the variety (location, typology, preservation, etc.) of the archaeological and historical sites. This monitoring will allow to determine the rate of degradation and the grade of erosion suffered by the cultural elements, to stablish corrective measures that ensure the preservation of the historical heritage of the archipelagos. This paper details the methodology used for this registry, as well as the issues found along the process and the results obtained so far.
