One of the current proposals to stimulate the learning of basic arithmetic is the OAOA movement (Other Algorithms and Arithmetic Operations), which is opposed to the Traditional Algorithms of Arithmetic Operations. This work aims to study the validity of this movement by studying a public primary school in which the OAOA movement has been gradually introduced over the last three years and, therefore, both educational trends coexist. The study shows two aspects, a quantitative one that focuses on pupils' grades and a qualitative one that studies the affective dimension. For this purpose, students' grades have been studied from 2012-13 to 2021-22 and the Auzmendi scale of attitudes towards mathematics has been applied to the current grades. The results show that both methods allow students to obtain good grades, although students in classes that use OAOA do so to a greater extent and with a reduction in mathematical anxiety.
