Abstract

This article presents an analysis of the offer of postgraduate courses in social sciences currently underway in public and private universities in Argentina, their institutional and territorial distribution and the evolution of their student enrollment. Likewise, their training guidelines are examined based on the definition of the graduate's profile. The results show the significant expansion of postgraduate courses in recent years, the sustained growth of student enrollment and the participation of foreign students, the greater real weight of postgraduate courses from public universities and the persistent metropolitan concentration of training offerings. Regarding the training profiles, the fundamentally professional nature of the Specializations is observed, the mixed nature of the Master's Degrees, oriented towards professional practice or teaching and research, and the strong prevalence of academic orientations among doctorates.
