In the child and adolescent protection system, working with the family of origin from a positive parenting approach is essential to promote family reunification. However, research on how to guide professional practice and articulate the intervention is still scarce. Under the Design Based Research (DBR) methodology, mixed research was carried out with 119 participants, with the aim of designing, identifying, defining and validating the stages, phases, objectives and temporality of a model (FRAME+P) to guide the practice of socio-educational action of professionals working with families with children in foster care and family reunification processes within the child and adolescent protection system, adapted to state legislation. They show a consensual and viable proposal adjusted to the Spanish reality that organizes the work with the family of origin, taking the approach of positive parenting as a backbone to promote the acquisition of parental competences from the moment of separation until the moment of return and reunification of the children in their families of origin.
