Abstract

Throughout the middle Ages, the social control of behavior has been one of the objectives that have characterized both the religious power and the royal power. The reflection in the Hispanic epic literature of that control could define the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of the actions taken since the power and reflect the possible use of the epic authors in favor of those claims. To this end, this paper will focus mainly on pain manifestations due to unexpected losses of the protagonists of the epic texts.
