"Elvira de Albornoz", un drama novel en la cúspide del teatro romántico español
Abstract
On 23rd May 1836, when the Spanish Romantic theatre was at its best José Mª Díaz´s first dramatic work, Elvira de Albornoz, was given its first performance at the Príncipe Theatre in Madrid. With this play Díaz joined the group of bright young hopes of the romantic stage. The play is in no way inferior to other titles which have become emblematic of the Romantic movement in Literature, and it can be considered as an unavoidable referent in the research of the Spanish Romantic stage, even if it has been unfairly forgotten.
