EL OFICIO DEL LADRÓN: LOS NOMBRES DE LAS ESPECIALIDADES DEL LATROCINIO EN LOS DICCIONARIOS DEL CALÓ

Abstract

The paper speaks about different names of professions and specialties of thieves, which are represented in dictionaries of Spanish Gypsy dialect. It shows that the vast majority of them are terms of Spanish origin proceeding from argot of Renaissance organized criminal groups, and therefore, they have nothing to do with the old Romani language. In the end of the paper, there is a glossary of those terms, always indicating their documentation in various Spanish Gypsy and criminal slang dictionaries.
