NOTAS SOBRE LA REFLEXIVIDAD Y RECIPROCIDAD EN ESPAÑOL
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to provide a unified treatment of reflexive sentences in Spanish. The first part is devoted to identifying the syntactic and semantic properties of reflexive sentences as transitive predicates. As far as semantic properties are concerned, reflexive sentences can be analyzed as unaccussative predicates, because the theme and the object have the same reference properties; however, several linguistics have argued that reflexive sentences in Spanish must be analyzed as transitive predicates. In my work, I will explore some empirical data, for example the behaviour of juntos in Spanish, in order to offer a unified treatment of syntactic and semantic properties of reflexives, based on the ideas proposed by Reinhart and Siloni (2004).
