Abstract

The assert about the author’s death is one of the main topics of posmodernist literature, but it has its origins in the cartesian philosophy, that represents the point of departure for the crisis of subjectivity. This fact undergoes an important increasing in Nietzsche’s and Schopenhauer’s writings and, in what concerns narrative, ends with the author’s death and the weakness of the narrator and character. This paper is mainly about the several attempts to retrieve the author’s figure as an important reference for the explanation of narrative texts.
