Abstract

In his novel El ayudante del verdugo (1971), Mario Lacruz carried out a complex historical allegory in order to explore specific aspects of the political and social working of Franco’s regime by focusing on the moral causes of its disorders. This paper is an analysis of the terms of this allegory and its epistemological functionality to interpret Spanish society between 1939 and 1970
