La traducción al español de las expresiones binomiales y trinomiales (Doublet & Triplet Expressions) en inglés jurídico: El caso de los Testamentos (Wills).

Abstract

In this work, we set out different strategies for translating into Spanish English doublet and triplet phraseological elements extracted from legal texts. The baroque, redundancy-charged register of these English texts usually makes the target version longer. That is why we have examined several original texts from Probate Law (i.e. Wills). These texts are compared with Spanish-language parallel texts. Our study shows that reducing the expression length is practicable when translating legal English into Spanish.
