Abstract

This work reviews Menéndez Pelayos ideas about XVI XVII centuries spanish picaresque literature. In the Estudios sobre Lope de Vega, Estudios y Discursos de crítica histórica y literaria and in his Epistolario the critic suggests some relationships between the texts, its continuations, seconds parts and sequels. Menéndez Pelayo also proposes different authors for the anonymous novels based on philologic, religious and politic reasons.
