LA VERSIÓN TEATRAL DE LA SEÑORA CORNELIA DE CERVANTES

Abstract

In the “comedia” Quien da luego da dos veces, Tirso de Molina re-elaborates La señora Cornelia, one of the short novels that Cervantes published in 1613 in his Novelas ejemplares. The adaptation process carried out by Tirso concerns various aspects of the work and it is based on the passage from a literary text to a dramatic text, or the set formed by the literary text and the "spectacle-text", with a different type of fruition and another model of communication. From a scheme of the distribution of the diegetic material of both texts, we analyze the stylistic changes, the quantitative changes for increase or reduction of the extension of the hypotext, and other alterations that make the short novel representable, as those which concern action and motivation and values of the chracaters.
