LOS ROMANCES DE MALMARIDADA A LA LUZ DE CÓDIGOS CULTOS
Abstract
The romances de malmaridada, beyond presenting the adultery, bring out essential characteristics about the husband’s quality, the lover, the woman, the marriage circumstances. They are the heirs of a vast literary French tradition that acquired new nuances and at the same time camouflaged others through key words in its way to Spain. Twenty century’s scholars did not how to deal with these romances: magnified the punishment of infidelity and hid them conveniently behind moral’s facade. The españolización has not been able to get rid of certain sophisticated code that reflects equilibrium between the derision of the horned husband and the most traditional values. A typical Romancero’s terrain, half-way between its capacity to preserve and to innovate.
