Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland was the rupture with the British children’s literature prior to the 19th century, in which logic and irrational barriers are not delimited in the protagonist’s oneiric world. Its richness and eccentricity reached our culture thanks to the translations of several authors that allowed the approach to a work that is still one of the most read after 150 years. Besides this, it revealed boundless possibilities of interpretations from an adult’s reading perspective. The main purpose of this study is to show a contrastive analysis proposal of the two translations into Galician of this literature’s classic, commentating on the elements of the original word that Lewis Carroll himself considered them as untranslatable. This analysis comprises the main translation problems and the different strategies taken in its both Galician versions, showing the importance of the decisions taken by the translators to the target community.
